VELOCITY TRIP

Velocity, the world’s fastest RibRide! This is no ordinary boat, it is an adrenaline-fuelled fast moving RIB going from zero to the ‘speed of scream’. The Skippers will take you out on an amazingly fast adventure. We will reach optimum ‘Velocity’.

You will enjoy a briefing on the pontoon before getting kitted up ready for the water.

Velocity will navigate from St George’s Pier, Menai Bridge and travel to the safest areas of water in the Menai Strait. There the Skipper will take Velocity to the fastest speeds possible, allowed by conditions on the day.

This boat tour is of a physical activity.

Dress code

Dress in readiness for temperatures 5-7 degrees lower than on the day, which means that gloves, hats, and multiple layers etc on cooler days are essential. And sensible shoes should be worn

We will be issuing riders with a Velocity flight suit, we request skirts and dresses are avoided to allow these to be worn. Though splash-proof, the coverall is large enough to allow for a waterproof layer to be worn underneath on rainy days (we assume that most people coming to North wales will be prepared with such items).

Restrictions

The minimum age to ride Velocity 10 years-old.

One adult for every three young people 10-18.

BRIDGES AND SWELLIES

Going under Thomas Telford’s Menai Suspension Bridge, past Church Island with its fifteenth-century St Tysilio’s church. We then enter the infamous Swellies, with its shipwrecks, rocks and whirlpools. We whip under the Britannia Bridge to spot the Lions and salute Lord Nelson’s statue.
After viewing Plas Newydd, we return to Menai Bridge and on to see some of the amazing homes known locally as ‘Millionaires Row’. After passing Garth Pier, the second-longest pier in Wales, at Bangor, we turn to zip back to Menai Bridge.

The skippers are your fast and fun guides to the natural beauty and history of the Menai Strait.

PUFFIN AND SEALS

A unique view of Beaumaris Castle and the town’s brightly coloured seafront houses will delight you. Then we head past an old seaplane factory and mine workings, out into the open sea, past old shipwrecks. We approach Puffin Island, or Ynys Seiriol, named after Saint Seiriol who founded a monastery opposite the island at Penmon Point. This uninhabited Island is home to the largest nesting cormorant population in the UK and, of course, the famous Puffins (seasonal visitors). You will watch the wildlife, see the massive colony of seals and experience a bird-spotting bonanza.

The skippers are your fast and fun guides to the history and wildlife around Puffin Island.
